Harford Manor School Fundraising Journey For ‘Project Playground’

Harford Manor Complex Need School launched ‘Project Playground’ and are asking local businesses to help raise money towards the £70,000 needed for specialist outdoor equipment.

Harford Manor is an OFSTED ‘Outstanding’ local authority led school based on Ipswich Road, Norwich. They provide education for children and young people with complex needs aged between 3-19 years.

They have a dedicated staff team who focus on meeting the individual and varying needs of the 88 pupils who attend, enabling them to develop their communication, problem solving, independence and self-regulation skills – all to help them better prepare them for life outside of and after school.

Harford Manor is an engaging school, motivating, meaningful and challenging but above all a place where pupils can succeed and feel valued. The school is proud of each and every one of their students and the progress they make.

Friends of Harford Manor School Association has been established for many years and is now a thriving PTA group. The Friends of Harford Manor School Association supports the school with special projects such as raising the money for a minibus, helping to provide a purpose built sensory room and refurbishing the soft play area. The Friends are also key to the running of the school Charity Shop, Close Links based on Hall Road.

When normality returns, an important aspect of the Friends groups is organising social activities for our pupils and their families such as our annual BBQ, seasonal discos and social evenings. All funds raised by the Friends directly benefit the children and they have had some generous donations by local businesses in the past.

The ‘Friends’ new goal, ’Project Playground’ is to refurbish the very dated outdoor equipment. This equipment is vital to our pupils' development and wellbeing. They aim to raise £70,000, which is beyond the realms of the school budget as some of the equipment needs specialist or sensory equipment.

If any local businesses wish to help with the fundraising by offering a raffle prize or any other assistance they would be thrilled!  Any donations are gratefully received and anyone who donates will be mentioned on their social media channels. Forging links with local business is incredibly important to the school – and in the past they have had some very generous donations.
