College Farm is a medieval house situated in the village of Thompson three miles from the market town of Watton. It was built by Katharine's ancestors in 1349 as a College of Priests to serve St Martin's Church and the villagers of Thompson. The college was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1541 when it then became a private house.
College Farm sits in 17 acres of lawns and woodland on the edge of the village and is the perfect secluded venue for your wedding reception or private party. B&B accommodation is also available in our 3 newly refurbished en suite rooms.
Our Jacobean dining room is available for hire for private lunch or dinner parties and we also serve traditional cream teas in the garden (weather permitting) or by the fire in the dining room if it's too cold to sit outside.
We are currently converting some derelict barns next to the house and will be able to offer a new one bedroom unit which will be perfect for self-catering staycations or wedding accommodation, as well as a barn with loos, a shower and kitchen adjoining a party room suitable for smaller weddings and functions. Both will open out onto a private west facing courtyard. The new accommodation should be ready by Summer 2021. Please keep an eye on our website for progress with this exciting new project.
